Instalace
- Upload the pro-categories-widget folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
- Activate the plugin through the ‚Plugins‘ menu in WordPress
- Go Appearance => widgets section see Pro Categories Widget

Thanks, I had tried a few other options and all had issues with my theme.
Loaded yours, took 1 min and it was working excellently in WP V5.3

I just gave this one a test after responding to someone else having issue with another similar plugin. I might actually make use of this one myself as the one I was using (Display Categories Widget) is all messed up with our new theme.

WordPress 4.8 – plugin working!
Maybe You need to update the plugin, and write that it works in a fresh version of Wordpress.

if they could add a radio button to select either include or exclude it would be even better. I use categories to archive stuff that i don’t want to show on the main page so including just my main categories is easier than having to add the new archive cat to the exclude list.

Installed a week ago and the plugin hides a single category as expected. However, I just added a second category to hide, but it is not working. Hopefully an easy fix — I’ve submitted a support ticket. Great plugin — just need to get it to work properly.
