Popis
Show beaches near a place you choose. Add them with a block, a widget, or a shortcode: a photo list, a short list, or a map only. Each beach can have its own page, with several Commons photos when they exist and a driving route from your place.
Set the origin on a map and load beaches from OpenStreetMap. Commons photos are saved to the Media Library when a beach has any. BonPlaya.com credit can be full, subtle, or off. Full can add a review link on a beach. Subtle adds a credit link. Off does not.
The plugin does not track visitors. Details on external services, privacy, and the BonPlaya name are in the FAQ.

Nejčastější dotazy
-
How do I show beaches on a page?
-
Use the Nearby beaches block, the widget, or a shortcode. Same layouts in all three:
List with photos and map
[bonplaya_beaches]Photos, names, distances, and a map.
Short list with map
[bonplaya_beaches format="minimal"]Names and distances, with a map. No photos.
Map only
[bonplaya_beaches format="map"]Only the map. Click a pin for the name.
limit is 1–30. A list shows eight beaches per page. On a list, add `map="0"` if you do not want the map. `source="post"` shows beaches named in that post or page. -
May I copy this plugin and keep the BonPlaya name?
-
No. The code is GPL-3.0-only; the BonPlaya name and branding are trademarks. A fork must use a different name and identity. See NOTICE.
-
Which PHP version does this need?
-
PHP 8.1 or newer. The mbstring extension is optional. Beach names are still matched when it is missing.
-
Does this send visitor data to BonPlaya?
-
No. The visitor’s browser does not call BonPlaya. Your WordPress server fetches the sitemap XML on bonplaya.com. It does not send a visitor address or the beach name. Integration only controls whether the public HTML links to BonPlaya.com.
-
Which external services does this plugin use?
-
The public site does not call Overpass, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, MyMemory, or BonPlaya APIs from the visitor’s browser. Those requests are made by your WordPress server (MyMemory only on a cache miss). When a map is shown, the visitor browser loads bundled Leaflet and OpenStreetMap raster tiles.
OpenStreetMap / Overpass — Nearby
natural=beachobjects (server), plus geocoding (admin) and map tiles (admin settings and public maps). Overpass runs on admin refresh and scheduled sync. Nominatim runs only when an administrator searches the settings map. Sent: origin coordinates and radius; search text; tile x/y/z when a map is shown; site URL in the User-Agent. OSM copyright, Overpass, Overpass Kumi, Nominatim policy, OSM privacy.OSRM — Driving route from the saved place to a beach, shown on that beach page. Server-side, cached for 12 hours. Sent: the two coordinates. Project OSRM.
Wikidata — Descriptions, Commons image claims (P18), and Commons category (P373) for OSM objects with a Wikidata id. During photo enrich after sync, or via Update data. Sent: entity ids. Licensing, privacy.
Wikimedia Commons — Image metadata and downloads into the Media Library (resized locally), including extra files from a beach Commons category. Public pages never hotlink Commons. During photo enrich. Sent: file titles and category searches. Reusing content, privacy.
MyMemory — Translation of cached English summaries into nl, es, de, fr, it, or pt. Cache-first; one server call on first miss. Sent: summary text, language pair, optional contact email from settings, site URL in the User-Agent. Terms.

Does this plugin track visitors?
-
No. It does not set analytics or advertising cookies and does not insert hidden affiliate or tracking links. Visitor browsers load OpenStreetMap tiles only when a map is shown. Visible BonPlaya.com links appear only if you set integration to Full or Subtle.

Přehled změn
0.4.6
- The BonPlaya sitemap is stored after one download, also when the server has no SimpleXML extension. An update still fetches that file once. Later page views do not fetch it again.
0.4.5
- Every public map shows all saved beaches, and zooms to the beaches on that page. A beach page stays on that beach, and on the driving route when there is one.
- Hovering a beach name or photo highlights its spot. After one second the map zooms one step closer, and returns when the pointer leaves.
- Scrolling zooms the map after one click. Plus and minus stay one step. The hint sits on the map.
- A beach page lists what is recorded there: walking distance, surface, length, width, facilities, and a Blue Flag with its year. A short note explains the flag.
- After an update, the plugin fetches the BonPlaya sitemap again and keeps trying until that file downloads. Refreshing beaches does not fetch it.
0.4.4
- The automatic refresh after the cache interval keeps going when there are many beaches or photos. It runs in short background steps, so a page view does not wait. The Update data screen is unchanged.
- On that automatic refresh, photos that are due keep importing after the first batch.
- The overview screenshot shows the page links under the beach list.
0.4.3
- PHP 8.1 or newer. The mbstring extension is not required.
- Beach page addresses are restored when an update drops them.
- A beach without a description gets two short factual sentences. The second one includes the distance.
- Overview cards show two lines of that text. In a list, the photo opens the beach page, the name stays on the left, and the distance stays on the right.
- On a phone, an enlarged beach photo fills the screen. The gallery keeps a dark backdrop, and thumbnails stay in one row.
- After an update, the plugin fetches the BonPlaya sitemap again. The previous list stays if that file is unavailable.
- Dutch includes the plugin name, description, and block title.
- Updated screenshots.
0.4.2
- Your place is a green house on the overview map, the beach map, and the settings map. Other beaches stay blue. The beach you are viewing stays red.
0.4.1
- Distances show the number and unit only. The optional text after a distance, such as “from our hotel”, is removed.
0.4.0
- Beach pages show a driving route from your place, with straight-line and driving distance.
- Overview lists can be sorted, and continue eight beaches at a time.
- Edit a beach description in the standard editor, or fetch the imported English text.
- Customized beaches stay as they are on refresh, unless you allow re-import or deletion.
- Change a beach gallery, or reset it from Commons without leaving the editor.
- Dutch and Spanish translations are included with the plugin.
0.3.1
- Beach gallery: fast clicks on thumbnails no longer freeze the page.
0.3.0
- Beach pages can show up to five Commons photos in a gallery, with a larger view in a modal.
- Extra photos come from the Wikidata image and the Commons category, not only a single file.
- After this update, a BonPlaya notice appears when extra photos are available. Refresh photos dismisses it.
- Optional checkbox on Update data to restore photos deleted from the Media Library.
- Photo progress counts beaches that have photos available, and prefers those still missing a lookup.
- Updated screenshots.
0.2.2
- When a list uses beaches named in the post, an empty selection says “No beaches selected by admin.” instead of asking to refresh.
0.2.1
- Plugin Check: escape Overpass error text; geo-save redirect no longer reads an unverified GET page param.
0.2.0
- Map of nearby beaches on lists, the widget, the block, and beach pages. Optional map-only layout. The current beach is highlighted.
- Kilometers or miles for distances and the search radius. Optional custom text after the distance (for example “from the hotel”).
- New Update data screen to refresh beaches and photos. Saving a new location or radius starts that update automatically.
- Photo import shows progress, how many beaches have a photo, a green notice when it finishes, and a reason if it stops.
- Photo credits are quieter than the BonPlaya source line.
- Clearer layout names: list with photos, short list, or map only. Directory description is shorter; service details are in the FAQ.
- Updated screenshots.
0.1.1
- Settings: progress for Refresh now and Refresh photos; notices stay on the update card.
- Photo import no longer re-queues beaches that have no Commons file.
- Overpass: retry and a second public instance when the first times out.
- Distance text: “from our location”.
- Directory icon, banner, and screenshots.
0.1.0
- First public license: GPL-3.0-only and trademark notice.
- WordPress.org readme: External Services and Privacy.
