Only the visitor's IP address is sent to this service, and the\nresult is cached for 24 hours to minimize requests.<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li>Service: <a href=\"https:\/\/ip-api.com\/\">ip-api.com<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Data sent: the visitor's IP address<\/li>\n<li>When: once per visitor per 24 hours, on their first page view<\/li>\n<li>Terms of service: https:\/\/ip-api.com\/docs\/legal<\/li>\n<li>This lookup can be disabled by removing the geo lookup call in <code>includes\/api\/handlers-visitor.php<\/code> (<code>_ip_geo()<\/code>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>If you enable Web Push notifications for new chats, browser push messages\nare delivered through your visitors' configured push service (e.g. Google\nor Mozilla's push endpoints) using the standard, plugin-generated VAPID\nkeys \u2014 no third-party account or API key is required.<\/p>\n\n<p>If you opt in to the <strong>Telegram<\/strong> integration (Settings \u2192 Channels) by\nentering your own bot token, messages sent by visitors through that\nTelegram bot, and your agents' replies, are relayed through Telegram's\nBot API (api.telegram.org) \u2014 this only happens if you've supplied a bot\ntoken and clicked \"Connect\".<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li>Service: <a href=\"https:\/\/core.telegram.org\/bots\/api\">Telegram Bot API<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Data sent: message text and the visitor's Telegram chat ID<\/li>\n<li>When: only when the Telegram integration is connected and in use<\/li>\n<li>Terms of service: https:\/\/telegram.org\/tos<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<!--section=installation-->\n<ol>\n<li>Upload the <code>vago-chat<\/code> folder to <code>\/wp-content\/plugins\/<\/code>, or install the zip via Plugins \u2192 Add New \u2192 Upload Plugin.<\/li>\n<li>Activate <strong>Vago Chat<\/strong> through the 'Plugins' screen in WordPress.<\/li>\n<li>A new <strong>Vago Chat<\/strong> menu item appears in your wp-admin sidebar \u2014 open it to set your agent name, avatar, and greeting.<\/li>\n<li>The chat widget will automatically appear in the front end of your site.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<h4>Nginx \/ LiteSpeed: protecting the chat database<\/h4>\n\n<p>This plugin writes a <code>.htaccess<\/code> file into <code>wp-content\/uploads\/vago-chat\/<\/code>\nto block direct access to the SQLite database and every <code>.json<\/code> file there\n(settings, generated config, VAPID keys \u2014 a <code>.php<\/code> extension is blocked too,\ndefensively, though nothing in the plugin writes one). Apache and LiteSpeed\n(LiteSpeed reads <code>.htaccess<\/code> natively for Apache compatibility) honor this\nautomatically. <strong>Nginx ignores <code>.htaccess<\/code> entirely<\/strong> \u2014 if your site runs on\nNginx, add a rule like this to your server block so those files stay private:<\/p>\n\n<pre><code>location ^~ \/wp-content\/uploads\/vago-chat\/ {\n    location ~* \\.(db|db-wal|db-shm|json|php)$ { deny all; return 404; }\n}\n<\/code><\/pre>\n\n<p>The plugin also shows an admin notice automatically when it detects Nginx.<\/p>\n\n<!--section=faq-->\n<dl>\n<dt id=\"does%20this%20create%20new%20database%20tables%3F\"><h3>Does this create new database tables?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>No. Conversations, visitors, and messages are stored in a SQLite database\nfile inside <code>wp-content\/uploads\/vago-chat\/<\/code>, not in your WordPress\n(MySQL) database.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"who%20can%20access%20the%20chat%20dashboard%3F\"><h3>Who can access the chat dashboard?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Administrators always have access. You can grant access to other users\nwithout making them administrators from Settings \u2192 Members \u2014 they get a\nnarrow \"Vago Chat Agent\" capability, nothing more.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"can%20agents%20use%20the%20dashboard%20without%20going%20into%20wp-admin%3F\"><h3>Can agents use the dashboard without going into wp-admin?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Yes. Settings \u2192 External Access lets you open the same dashboard at a\nshort URL like <code>example.com\/live-chat-agent\/<\/code>. Logging in there uses\n    wp_signon() \u2014 WordPress's own login function \u2014 so it's the same\nauthentication as wp-admin, just without the wp-admin chrome around it.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"what%20happens%20to%20my%20data%20if%20i%20uninstall%20the%20plugin%3F\"><h3>What happens to my data if I uninstall the plugin?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Deleting the plugin from the Plugins screen removes its settings and the\nSQLite chat database\/uploaded files.
