You can also receive a WhatsApp alert on your own phone the moment a new order comes in. Your customers already live in WhatsApp. Order emails get buried in promotions folders and SMS feels impersonal, but a WhatsApp message from the store someone just bought from gets read. The plugin turns the order status changes WooCommerce already tracks into WhatsApp notifications, with no code and no change to your checkout. Messages are sent from the WhatsApp number you connect to your Assistro account, so customers see your business and can reply to you directly. #### What you can do * **Send WhatsApp order confirmations** as soon as an order is placed, so customers know you received it. * **Send WhatsApp completion updates** when you mark an order as completed. * **Follow up on failed payments** by messaging the customer the moment a payment fails and asking them to try again. * **Remind customers about pending payments** for orders waiting on bank transfer, cheque or another manual payment method. * **Keep customers informed about holds, cancellations and refunds** before they have to contact you. * **Get a WhatsApp alert for every new order** on your own number, so you never miss a sale while you are away from the dashboard. * **Write every message yourself** for each order status, with placeholders for the customer’s name, order ID, total and more. * **Keep a record of every message** as a private note on the WooCommerce order, plus a full message log. #### WooCommerce order statuses supported Turn WhatsApp notifications on or off for each order status, and write a separate message for each one. The plugin includes a ready-to-use default message for every status, so you can switch notifications on straight away and edit the wording later. * **Pending payment** – „Hi {name}, your order #{order_id} is pending payment. Total: {total}. Please complete payment to proceed.“ * **Processing** – „Hi {name}, thanks for your order #{order_id}! We have received it and are processing it now. Total: {total}.“ * **On hold** – „Hi {name}, your order #{order_id} is currently on hold. We will update you soon.“ * **Completed** – „Hi {name}, great news! Your order #{order_id} is completed. Thanks for shopping with us.“ * **Cancelled** – „Hi {name}, your order #{order_id} has been cancelled.“ * **Refunded** – „Hi {name}, your order #{order_id} has been refunded. Amount: { total}.“ * **Failed** – „Hi {name}, unfortunately your order #{order_id} payment failed. Please try again.“ #### WhatsApp alerts for store owners Add your own WhatsApp number and the plugin will message you whenever a new order is placed. The alert is sent once per order, the first time the order reaches Processing, On hold or Completed, so you are not notified again as the same order moves through later statuses. The alert message is fully editable and supports the same placeholders as customer messages. #### Personalize WhatsApp messages with order details Use these placeholders in any customer message or store owner alert. The plugin replaces each one with the details of the order before sending: * `{name}` – the customer’s billing first name * `{order_id}` – the WooCommerce order ID * `{total}` – the order total amount * `{status}` – the order status that triggered the message * `{billing_email}` – the customer’s billing email address * `{order_date}` – the date the order was created, in your site’s date format #### Reach the right number, even when customers skip the country code WhatsApp needs a full international phone number, but many customers type their number with spaces, dashes or a leading zero, and leave out the country code. The plugin removes formatting characters and leading zeros from the billing phone number before sending. You can also set a default country code that is added automatically to any number that does not already start with it, which is ideal for stores that sell mainly in one country. #### Every WhatsApp message recorded on the order When a notification is sent, the plugin adds a private note to the WooCommerce order showing the number it went to and the status that triggered it, so your team can see at a glance what the customer has been told. Errors and API responses are written to the WooCommerce logs under the source `assistro-order-notifications`, and once your store is connected you can open your Assistro dashboard and message logs from inside WordPress. #### How it works 1. Install and activate the plugin, then open **Assistro** in your WordPress admin menu. 2. On the **Configuration** tab, connect your store using the API token from your Assistro account. 3. On the **WooCommerce Events** tab, switch on the order statuses you want to notify customers about, edit each message, and add your own number for new order alerts. Yes. Once you switch a status on, the plugin sends the message automatically every time a WooCommerce order changes to that status. There is nothing to click for each order. ### Which WooCommerce order statuses can send a WhatsApp notification? Pending payment, Processing, On hold, Completed, Cancelled, Refunded and Failed. Each status has its own on and off switch and its own message. ### Do I need a WhatsApp Business API account? No. The plugin sends messages through your Assistro account, from the WhatsApp number you connect there. We recommend using a WhatsApp Business number for your store so customers see your business details. ### Can I customize the WhatsApp message for each order status? Yes. Every status has its own message, and you can rewrite it completely. Default messages are included so you can start quickly and change the wording whenever you like. ### What placeholders can I use in my messages? {name}, `{order_id}`, `{total}`, `{status}`, `{billing_email}` and `{order_date}`. The plugin replaces them with the order’s details before sending. The same placeholders work in store owner alerts. ### Can I get a WhatsApp notification when a new order is placed? Yes. Switch on the store owner alert, add your WhatsApp number and write your alert message. The plugin messages you when a new order first reaches Processing, On hold or Completed. ### Will the store owner alert be sent more than once for the same order? No. The plugin marks the order once the alert has been sent, so later status changes on the same order do not send another store owner alert. Customer messages are still sent for each status you have switched on. ### My customers don’t enter a country code. Will their messages still arrive? Set a default country code in the phone number settings. The plugin adds it to any billing phone number that does not already start with that code, after removing spaces, dashes and leading zeros. ### How do I know a WhatsApp message was sent? The plugin adds a private note to the WooCommerce order each time a notification is sent, showing the number and the status. You can also check the Logs tab in the plugin, and the WooCommerce logs under the source `assistro-order-notifications` if something fails. ### Does it work with my payment gateway and theme? Yes. The plugin listens for WooCommerce order status changes rather than connecting to a particular checkout, theme or payment gateway. It works whether an order status is changed by a gateway, by another plugin, or manually by you. ### Can customers reply to the WhatsApp message? Yes. Messages are sent from your connected WhatsApp number, so customer replies arrive in that WhatsApp account like any other conversation. ### Is the plugin free? The plugin is free to install. Sending messages requires an Assistro account with an active plan. Only send order notifications to customers who gave you their phone number at checkout, keep each message about their order, and avoid using the same number for unsolicited promotional messages. If many recipients report messages as spam, WhatsApp may restrict the number. ### What happens to my data if I disconnect or uninstall? Disconnecting your store or deactivating the plugin removes the stored API token. Uninstalling the plugin deletes its settings from your WordPress database.
